Case Collaboration
A shared workspace for the matter, owned by the client.
Every case gets its own space with messages, documents, calendar, signatures, payments and updates — visible to you and to the firm representing you, and to nobody else.
Case workspace
Eight tabs, and no hunting through email.
Overview
Current status, your attorney, the next event and the latest update, in one screen.
Messages
One conversation per matter. Text, photos and documents, with read receipts and preserved history.
Documents
Only the files shared with this matter — separate from your private vault.
Calendar
Hearings, depositions and appointments, each with its own reminder schedule.
Updates
Plain-language progress notes written for you, not billing narrative.
Signatures
Pending and completed signature requests with their audit certificates.
Payments
Invoices from the firm, what has been paid, and what is outstanding.
Attorney
Who is on your matter, their role, and how to reach them.
Status, in plain English
You should be able to tell where your case is without calling anyone.
CourtDocs uses consumer-readable statuses. Attorneys keep their own detailed internal notes, and those are a separate system the client never sees.
Internal notes and client updates are never the same record
Attorney work product — strategy, valuation, candid assessments — lives in a separate store that is visibly walled off in the firm interface. Publishing an update to the client is a deliberate act, not a side effect of taking a note.
Consultation to client
How a conversation becomes a case.
- 01
Attorney sends the retainer
The firm uploads the agreement and defines the signature fields. You are notified: you have received an agreement from Smith Law Group.
- 02
You review and sign
Signing happens through a mature e-signature provider. The executed PDF and its audit certificate are stored automatically.
- 03
Representation is confirmed
The firm confirms, the lead becomes a client, and CourtDocs opens the shared case workspace for both sides.
- 04
The matter runs in one place
Messages, documents, court dates, updates and invoices all live in the workspace for the life of the case.
- 05
The case closes, you keep everything
The firm's access to the matter ends. Your documents, history and calendar stay in your account indefinitely.
Start your briefcase
Store it. Protect it. Find counsel. Keep it for life.
Free to start. No card required. Your documents stay yours whether or not you ever hire a lawyer through CourtDocs.
